Cadwell was a challenge to say the least! Sadly we did not manage a single race finish! Practice on Sunday morning went ok and the outfit felt pretty good and the gearing semed about right. Following the rear wheel fiasco we checked the pressure before the race only to find we had lost at least 6 psi - not good.
Rcae 1 came quick and all we had time to do was pump the rear up and hope for the best. Sadly on the exit of the last corner on lap 1 the outfit slid horribly out of shape so we pulled off rather than carry on for safety. Back at the pits and the rear was down to 10 psi. Not good!
We took the rear wheel out and swapped the valve for another in the hope that the valve was the problem. We blew the tyre upto around 40psi to make sure and you could hear air leaking out! It was not from the valve or the tyre but where the two halves of the split rim join!
The wheel was taken apart and the two halves re sealed and left to dry over night so Race 2 was a non start.
Monday morning and the tyre was checked - all ok! Great out for race 1 following a slight tweak to the gearing and we got a great start from th 10 th row of the grid. The outfit was really going well and we well towards the sharp end. On the 3rd lap as we came out of Barn we missed a gear, the engine made a nasty nosie and stopped - oh dear!
Back in the paddock and various checks were made to check / see what damage had gone on. Valves all ok, pushrods all ok so a start was attempted. The engine fired but sounded rough. Many more things were tried and finally a broken coil wire found. A quik repair, push start and yes - all ok! Race 2 was yet to come so lets hope something can be salvaged?
We had another good start and were going really well in the shortened 4 lap race. Track conditions were pretty horrid with a lot of water and what lloked like spilt fuel / oil over a lot of the lap. On lap 3 as we charged into Park trying to re -pass Ray and Ted they got a little out of shape causing us to brake a little harder and in doing so we spun - pretty exiting it looked too apparently!
So there was Cadwell - 4 races and not a single finish. However it was not all bad as a lot was learnt and again we could see that our speed is coming on great - roll on Lydden.

It is hard to believe that the season has begun and that as we write this on Wednesday 11th April the first meeting has already been and gone and that it is less than a month to the next one!
You can read all about how the team did at Pembrey in the Race Reports section.
A big thank you to Mike Richards for the beautifully crafted chassis, to Richard Darby for looking after the motor, to Mum, Dad, Geoff, Laura, Dave, Sarah, Kristofer, Buster, Tony & Margaret, all the CRMC sidecar teams, Marshalls and officials for all their help and support.

Welcome to the home of Triplebrew Racing. We are a team who race a Classic Sidecar powered by a Triumph Trident T150 engine.
Please have a good look around our site as there is lots to explore.
Ian and Grant have been involved with Classic Racing for over 15 years having previously marshalled at CRMC race meetings for over 10 years. As a result of watching the sidecar numbers decrease they decided that they would like to have a go and help to keep sidecars racing with the CRMC.
7th & 8th April - Pembrey, South Wales
6th & 7th May - Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire
2nd & 3rd June - Lydden, Kent
30th June & 1st July - Mallory Park, Leicestershire
11th & 12th August - Donington Park
15th & 16th September - Snetterton, Norfolk
13th & 14th October - Silverstone, Northamptonshire
The teams first sidecar was purchased in 2005 and a lot of work was carried out to make the sidecar race ready.
2011 is a very exciting year for the team as in May they took delivery of their brand new chassis built by Mike Richards of MR Equipe. Although a new chassis the outfit fully conforms to the eligibility rules set out by the CRMC and runs on 10" wheels as was used in the period. The engine is the teams well proven 1972 Triumph Trident T150 expertly prepared by Richard Darby of 3D Motorcycles.
You can find out more details about the new outift elsewhere on the site.
